Roséo Essence was born from the deepest love a mother can have, and the most profound pain a mother can endure. I’m a grieving mother who, at 24 weeks and 3 days, gave birth to my beautiful firstborn, Roséo. My son, weighing just 280g, was so very tiny yet so incredibly loved. He stayed with us only for four precious hours. Though brief, those moments changed me forever. Losing Roséo left me in a chasm of depression, anxiety, and PTSD, the weight of grief and trauma heavy on my spirit. In the midst of this heartbreak, I felt as though I’d lost my identity.

To navigate the turbulent path of grief, I began to pick up new hobbies – running, gardening, baking, reading. Each one helped me cope, little by little, reminding me of life and its small but significant moments of healing. I have always believed deeply in the power of nature and that our skin, our largest organ, absorbs everything we place upon it. Throughout my pregnancy, I had researched ways to ensure my child would grow up with the best, most natural care. I wanted so much to nurture his health and protect his delicate skin. But that dream was not meant to be.

“Roséo Essence” carries my son’s spirit, with “Essence” symbolising purity and care. As Roséo Essence began to take shape, I found myself drawn to the nurturing process of growing and crafting many of the ingredients at home. Tending to a small garden filled with herbs and plants, I began cultivating ingredients that would eventually go into each cream, from lavender and chamomile to nourishing calendula and aloe vera. This process has brought me peace and a sense of purpose; each step of growing, harvesting, and blending these elements feels like an act of love, a way to continue caring and nurturing in Roséo’s honour. By creating these products from seed to skin, I ensure that every jar is filled with the purest ingredients, a personal touch, and the deep care that I once dreamed of giving to him.

After we laid Roséo to rest, my partner and I decided, at the last minute, to take a trip to Ghana. In an ideal world, this journey would have been our “babymoon” – a time to celebrate and prepare for our growing family. Instead, it became our first holiday in grief. What should have been a time for joyful memories was, instead, a search for healing and solace. Ghana holds a deep place in my heart, as it’s where my late grandfather was from. Being there allowed me to connect with my roots and regain a sense of identity during a time when I felt so lost.

While in Ghana, I brought back organic, unrefined shea butter, a gift from the land to make my own body creams. I realised I still had so much love to give, love that could no longer be poured into my baby but still needed a place to go. Even though Roséo isn’t here physically, I feel his spirit with me every day.

Roséo Essence is my way of honouring him. It’s a brand built from my love for my son, and from the heartbreak of not being able to nurture him myself. With each cream, I’m sharing my love, my pain, my resilience, my courage, and my hope. These creams are crafted from plant-based oils and natural ingredients, just as I would have chosen for him.
